Liverpool fans have made a bold prediction for Virgil van Dijk, after their beloved defender won a coveted prize ahead of two of the greatest players of all time.
The Netherlands international was nominated alongside Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and Juventus icon Cristiano Ronaldo for UEFA's Best Player in Europe award.
The annual prize was awarded the honour in Monaco on Thursday, following the Champions League group stage draw for the 2019/20 campaign.
Clinching the trophy in the French principality, Van Dijk was awarded for his sensational performances for club and country during the past 12 months.
Van Dijk was a key figure for Jurgen Klopp's side last season as the Reds achieved a club-record points haul in the Premier League and won their sixth Champions League crown after beating Tottenham in Madrid .
On top of that, he also helped the Netherlands reach the final of the UEFA Nations League, a significant improvement for his nation after they missed the World Cup in 2018.
