'Ballon d'Or' - Leeds United fans go crazy for what Kalvin Phillips did vs Blackburn Rovers

Kalvin Phillips is already a fans' favourite at Elland Road.

And the midfielder did no harm to his reputation when Leeds took on Blackburn at Ewood Park in the Championship this afternoon.

The Whites went into the game knowing that three points would take them closer to a Premier League return and put the pressure back on West Bromwich Albion in second and Brentford in third position.

And the game couldn't have started better for Marcelo Bielsa's men when they took the lead in just the seventh minute through Patrick Bamford.

Things got better for Leeds just before half time, when it was Phillips' time to shine.

The midfielder put a free kick in the top corner of Blackburn's net to double the Whites' lead on the 40th minute.

The goal was just Phillips' second of the season, after he scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Birmingham City back in October.

Following the goal, Leeds fans took to social media to show their delight at the strike.

Here is what they had to say.

Despite Adam Armstrong pulling a goal back for Blackburn just after the half time break, Leeds restored their two goal lead just five minutes later.

Mateusz Klich was able to bundle the ball into the back of Blackburn's net.

A win would mean that Leeds maintain their six point gap to Brentford as they look to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
