A 16-year-old boy has been left with serious head and arm injuries after being attacked in Balloch Country Park.
The teenager was rushed to hospital for treatment following the incident, which took place next to the pier in the park on Tuesday evening.
His condition at this stage is unknown.
Police say there were a number of people around at the time of the incident and have asked anyone with information or mobile phone footage of the assault to come forward.
A Police Scotland statement published this afternoon advised: "Detectives are appealing for information after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted next to the pier in Balloch Country Park.
"The incident happened around 5.40pm on Tuesday, 29 June, and the boy sustained serious arm and head injuries. He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for treatment."
Detective Constable David Jamieson, of Dumbarton Police Office, commented: “There were several groups of people around at the time of the incident and we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
“If anyone has information, including mobile footage, that might help with our enquiries then please get in touch.”
