Chelsea fans were left hailing former academy star Tino Livramento as he starred for Southampton against Manchester United on Sunday.
The 18-year-old departed the club this summer as he joined Southampton, with a route to the Chelsea first-team seemingly blocked by the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James.
It was certainly a surprise to see the youngster leave, having scooped the Blues’ Academy Player of the Season award at the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.
However, with just one year remaining on his current deal, Chelsea elected to cash-in, with the right-back sealing a £5m switch to St Mary’s earlier this summer.
Despite having never made a senior appearance for the west Londoners, Livramento has enjoyed a rapid start to life with Southampton.
He was introduced off the bench last weekend in the defeat at the hands of Everton before then being handed his first start for his new employers against Manchester United on Sunday.
Livramento was arguably the stand-out performer for Southampton throughout the game, with his rampaging runs down the right flank particularly catching the eye.

He was also handed the man-of-the-match award by broadcasters Sky Sports as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops secured a useful 1-1 draw against Manchester United, with Fred having put through his own net before Mason Greenwood levelled matters down on the South Coast.
His performance certainly had Chelsea fans talking. Here are the best of their responses on social media.
Despite Livramento having penned a five-year deal with the Saints, it has been reported that Chelsea retain a buy-back clause in the deal.
The Blues have been linked with a move for a more attacking right-back throughout the summer.
They were previously interested in Achraf Hakimi but the Moroccan elected for a switch to Paris Saint-Germain instead.
