‘Baller’ – Arsenal fans urge Edu to sign Norwich City star after spotting amazing assist

Arsenal fans have urged the club to sign Todd Cantwell after videos emerged of his fantastic assist in Norwich City’s 5-0 pre-season win over League One Gillingham.

After receiving the ball from long-term Arsenal target, Max Aarons, the Englishman – who is known to be a boyhood Gunners fan – flicked the ball up to a manageable height, before bicycle kicking a cross over to Adam Idah who poked home from close range.

Although it wasn’t against the best of opposition, the skill was truly remarkable, and highlighted why there’s significant interest in him ahead of the close of the transfer window.

Aston Villa, who look set to lose club captain and star man Jack Grealish in a £100million move to Manchester City in the coming days, are expected to pursue the Norwich midfielder once a transfer for Grealish is finalised, as per Sky Sports.

However, with Arsenal targeting a specific profile of player – aged 25 or under - as part of their summer rebuild, a move for Cantwell makes sense, especially given his personal affection for the club.

His skill from Tuesday night’s win only reminded Gunners fans of his potential, and thus, a number of supporters have urged Edu and Mikel Arteta to make a move for the 23-year-old.

Take a look at what’s been said on Twitter:

@DylanJMoore said: “@Arsenal why aren’t we making moves for Todd Cantwell. The man would make a great addition to this squad in terms of creativity and he’s gotta be a damn site cheaper than some of the overhyped ppl we been looking at instead.”

@adamg343 said: “Get Todd Cantwell to the carpet @Arsenal.”

@Salam_faruq said: “Need this Cantwell boy at Arsenal.”

@MainManMiles said: “Cantwell is a baller, 1 year left on his contract and an Arsenal fan. No brainer.”

@blacklist_01 said: “Always rated Cantwell. Won’t mind him at Arsenal.”

And with just one-year left on his current contract, Cantwell isn’t expected to be too costly either.

It’s a deal certainly worth pursuing, but given Villa’s interest, the Gunners will need to get a move on.
