Bale handed start, big Alli and Lamela call - The Tottenham team Mourinho should pick vs Burnley

Tottenham need to get their Premier League aspirations back on track on Sunday when Burnley visit north London.

Now down in ninth after last weekend's 2-1 defeat at West Ham, Jose Mourinho's side must start picking up wins again or else the gap between them and the top four will only increase.

It certainly won't be easy against Sean Dyche's men but they did record an excellent 5-0 victory over the Lancashire side in last season's home fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mourinho is expected to make a number of changes for the game following the midweek win over Wolfsberger AC, with Dele Alli and Gareth Bale both pushing for a spot in the side.

But who would our Tottenham Hotspur reporters pick against the Clarets? Take a look below.

Alasdair Gold - Tottenham Hotspur reporter

Mourinho must go with his strongest possible side. Spurs simply must get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Serge Aurier came through training without problems so he must start, unless Mourinho wants Japhet Tanganga as a bigger presence at set pieces.

Gareth Bale must start in his form although the Spurs boss appeared to indicate on Wednesday night that Dele Alli would not start again so soon.

The other big call to make is in central defence and the question is whether Davinson Sanchez comes in or Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld continue after recording that clean sheet together.

Gold's team: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Ndombele, Hojbjerg; Bale, Lamela, Son; Kane.

Rob Guest - Tottenham Hotspur reporter

It's time for Dele Alli to start in the Premier League for the first time since the opening day after his masterclass against Wolfsberger AC.

Clearly getting back to fitness after an increase in his minutes recently, that extra rest day due to the team playing in the Europa League on Wednesday evening may see Jose Mourinho unleash him.

Gareth Bale should join him in the three behind Harry Kane as he has also stepped up recently and he should be fresh after playing less than 20 minutes in midweek.

Serge Aurier should also come into the side at right-back after returning from injury, while Joe Rodon should also be given a go alongside Toby Alderweireld at centre-back given their recent struggles there.

As difficult as it is to play against Burnley given how organised they are, they may struggle to keep Spurs quiet with the attacking quintet in their side.

Guest's team: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Rodon, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Ndombele; Bale, Alli, Son; Kane
