Baldy Chef's Kitchen opening in Glasgow as southsiders get set for pizzas, loaded fries and shawarma

Pizzas, loaded burgers, fries and shawarma will be served up in the south side with the arrival of The Baldy Chef's Kitchen.

Work is already underway to bring the brilliantly-named food spot to Battlefield, replacing the former Persepolis takeaway on Battlefield Road.

The Baldy Chef's Kitchen will be open for both delivery and takeaway and is expected to serve an array of comfort food to its first customers later this month.

This afternoon, videos have been shared of the old Persepolis sign being removed with The Baldy Chef's Kitchen signage now in its place.

Making the announcement on Instagram and Facebook earlier this Monday, the man behind The Baldy Chef's Kitchen said: "The Baldy Chef’s Kitchen is opening its first takeaway in Glasgow, Scotland this month!

"Watch this space to see our progress, and more importantly to find out when we open!"

And we caught up with The Baldy Chef himself to find out more.

He said: "I've decided to open because I have been working in the food industry for seven years and have built up a real passion for it. I love the fact that it’s hands on and that you get to meet new people everyday and put a smile on people’s faces

"People can expect our food to be fresh and made to the highest quality. Our pizza dough will be made from scratch. Our pizza sauce will be made fresh. All our mince will be bought in from a butcher.

"And most importantly we want to meet all our customer dietary needs. We have vegan cheese, gluten free pizzas bases and vegetarian options.

"If something isn’t on the menu and they want it, they can just ask and if we have the ingredients we will do it. If not we’ll get them in for next time.

"All customers ordering deliveries and collection will be able to do so by our App or website and deliveries will be delivered hot as our hot bags are electric.

"Meanwhile we'll have a late night license, so for all The Shed-goers, the Church on the Hill lovers and those going to surrounding pubs, we will be open till 3am on a a Friday and Saturday - so they can get their scran to sober up!

"We are open Friday and Saturday 11am-3am and Sunday-Thursday 11am-10:30pm.

"We will have a set lunch menu on from 11am-4pm on weekdays too for anyone passing by, going to the shops, going to college or for families too. Absolutely anyone can pop in and try our lunch menu that starts from £2-£7.50.

"Our opening week we will have discounts on all our different types of food as well, so watch this space!"

The Baldy Chef's Kitchen is located at 142 Battlefield Road in Glasgow's south side, G42 9JT and you can find out more on Instagram here.
