Baldur's Gate 3 Wins Game of the Year at the 24th GDC Awards

Larian Studios continues its winning streak as Baldur's Gate 3 once again took home the top honor during the 24th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards after being named as Game of the Year. It beat out five other games which were COCOON, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

However, that's not the only thing that Larian Studios has to be proud of since the game also claimed three other distinguished awards that include Best Narrative, Best Design and the Audience Award.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a role-paying game that based on the tabletop fantasy RPG system of Dungeons & Dragons. It was created by the same team who worked on the Divinity series. The game was partially released in Early Access back in October 2020. After that it received new content and features which then lead up to its full release in 2023. The game has since won top awards that included Outstanding Video Game during the 35th GLAAD Media Awards and Game of the Year at the 27th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have failed to get the top prize, it didn't go home empty handed. The game claimed the Innovation Award and the Best Technology Award. Another game the received two awards was Venba which got the Best Debut Award and the Social Impact Award.

In addition to the video games that won, other acknowledgements were Fawzi Mesmar being given the Ambassador Award and Yoko Shimomura honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
