During the Game Awards 2025, Larian Studios showed up to put an end to the debates and questions around the mysterious statue being teased on social media by the show's host Geoff Keighley.

The team is officially working on Divinity, a new game that (obviously) returns to the Divinity series of games the studio worked on before Baldur's Gate 3.

The teaser trailer shows a Wicker Man-esque ritual unfolding, with a celebrating village burning some hapless captives. Things quickly take an even nastier turn, with something going horribly wrong as the sacrifices are twisted into something new.

Little is known right now, but Keighley noted after the reveal that this will be Larian's biggest game ever, which is an impressive statement considering the scope of Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2.

It'll be quite interesting to see where this new Divinity game falls on the series' expansive timeline, which spans thousands of years.

Larian's first-ever game in the series was Divine Divinity, which launched all the way back in the 2002, drawing inspiration from Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo. Following games expanded in different directions, with Divinity: Dragon Commander mixing role-playing elements with aerial dragon combat and real-time strategy battles.

In particular, Divinity: Original Sin 2 laid the groundwork for the studio's work on Baldur's Gate 3, with a lot of role-playing game systems and interactivity that is quite similar between the two.

If you came to know Larian Studios through Baldur's Gate 3 and haven't played Divinity: Original Sin 2 before, I highly recommend checking it out. It's currently available on Xbox, Windows PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Mac. It's also chronologically the latest game in the series' timeline.
