RIO DE JANEIRO _ The U.S. women's basketball team began its trek for a fifth consecutive gold medal with a record victory over Senegal, 121-56, at Youth Arena in Rio. The Americans had the highest point total in an Olympic game and the widest margin of victory.
The U.S. made quick work of Senegal, jumping to a 16-2 lead behind a couple of 3-pointers from Diana Taurasi, who finished with 15 points, along with Sylvia Fowles and Breanna Stewart, to top Team USA in scoring.
Sky forward Elena Delle Donne finished with 11 points.
