A Bolton-based bakery loved by a string of celebs has announced the opening of a new store - near a football stadium. Carrs Pasties will open its forth store in the Middlebrook Retail Leisure Park in Horwich later this year.
The bakery, which counts celebrities including Sara Cox and Chris Evans amongst it customers, already has three shops in Bolton, on Manchester Road, Halliwell Road and the Market Place shopping centre. This will be the brand's first shop on a retail park and will sit alongside brands including Costa Coffee, Cakeaway and Greggs in the former EE Unit.
The new shop will offer the Carrs core range of pasties including meat and potato, cheese and steak, alongside sandwiches, salads, cakes, snacks and cold drinks, while hot drinks will be provided by Second City Coffee. Customers of the Middlebrook shop will also be able to order online for click-and-collect and on delivery platforms including UberEats, Deliveroo, JustEat and Too Good To Go.

Over the past 85 years, Carrs' delicious pastries have won the hearts of many Boltonians. The family-run bakery initially started as a tripe shop on Halliwell Road prior to the Second World War before attracting the attention of mill workers when it started selling freshly baked pies and pasties.
In 1960, the owners' children John, Bernard, David and Veronica all quit their successful careers to form a limited company and scale up production. Bolton Council gave the company a loan in 1975, which continued to help it grow and in 2013, it was passed down to John's children Matt, Joe and Liam.
In 2017 Carrs also began a sponsorship with Bolton Wanderers FC and opened the Carrs Pasties Family Stand. In 2020, a nationwide delivery service was also launched by the company, and last year it received planning permission to convert the former G4S building at the back of its current premises on Summerfield Road into new headquarters and offices.
Matt Carr, director at Carrs Pasties commented: “Middlebrook has been in our sights for over a decade, and not just because of the demand from our customers.
"Opening a store there represents an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Bolton Wanderers Football Club - where we are currently sponsors of the Family Stand – and the community around Horwich and the surrounding areas.
"We are a Bolton business, so opening at Middlebrook makes sense. We are really looking forward to welcoming new customers from further afield, it’s an exciting venture for us and we can’t wait to open our doors.”
Carrs Pasties has already hired a new store manager and are looking for retail assistants to join the team at the new branch. While no official opening date has been confirmed, Carrs have said the new shop will open in summer.
