Baker Street on Belmont Road officially closed for business

Popular East Belfast restaurant Baker Street has announced they're closed for business.

The Belmont Road spot has been trading at the site for almost three and a half years but today announced they are closed for business.

In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the owners added: "It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you Baker Street Belfast is closed for business.

"It’s been almost 3.5 years since we set foot on the Belmont Rd and our journey since has been nothing short of phenomenal. To everyone who has dined with us, got to know us and shared this experience with us, we would like to say a massive thank you for the support, we’ll take with us some very happy memories!"

However, it's not all bad news for fans of the cafe as owners have teased a potential new partnership with another business.

Debenhams confirms it will close 22 stores

They said: "Our customers have always remarked on the personal affable service at Baker Street and we are pleased to say that you’ll still be able to catch Jonny, Vince, Terry & Carl as they bring their charms over to join the team at French Village Patisserie Brasserie, Lisburn Rd.

"Although we are closing, its not totally the end for Baker Street. Our chefs & the Baker Street brand will be teaming up with our French Village Catering team so keep your eyes on our social media channels for future developments."

The company have also issued the following advice to customers still in receipt of gift vouchers.

They added: "The business end… Any customers still in possession of a Baker Street gift voucher will be able to spend this in either French Village Lisburn Rd or Botanic or alternatively please contact matt@frenchvillagebakery.co.uk

"Once again, from all of us, a heartfelt thank you and sincere apologies for any inconvenience."
