Baker Street double-decker bus catches fire as passengers flee from blaze

A double decker bus caught fire in the middle of London with passengers evacuated.

The blaze happened on Portman Square in Marylebone this afternoon, with footage showing flames rising from the back of the vehicle.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade told the Mirror emergency calls were received just before 4.30pm with a crew from Soho sent to the scene.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, though one person has been treated at hospital for smoke inhalation.

They said: "We were called at 4.24pm. One crew from Soho was at the scene. It was extinguished by 4.45pm. The cause will be investigated.

"Everyone who was on the bus got off but we can't be certain if any suffered effects. There were no ambulance crews at the scene."
