Baker Mayfield doesn’t have time for any nonsense. The Browns quarterback and leader made that very clear in addressing questions about veteran RB Duke Johnson, who confirmed he still wants to be traded during the first day of Browns mandatory minicamp.
Mayfield offered this message to Johnson during his scheduled press conference,
“You’re either on this train or you’re not, it’s moving. You can get out of the way or you can join us.”
Johnson did show up for the mandatory minicamp and declared he would not be a problem or distraction while he’s still on the Browns, though the versatile back still wants to play elsewhere.
Mayfield later revisited the Johnson topic at the behest of reporters. He doesn’t find anything
“It’s not awkward,” Baker later stated matter-of-factly. “It’s self-inflicted. It is what it is. It’s not awkward for anybody else in this building.”
Mayfield concluded his thoughts on Johnson with this,
“He’s got to do his job. He’s a professional and I hope he does his job.”
