The Arizona Cardinals will host the Cleveland Browns, one of the most intriguing teams in the NFL this coming season, in Week 15. It will feature two exciting young quarterbacks. The Browns have Baker Mayfield and the Cardinals have Kyler Murray.
They were teammates at Oklahoma. They are the last two Heisman Trophy winners. They are both very competitive and will apparently be in each other’s ears or phones leading up to the game and perhaps during the game.
Mayfield said “there will absolutely be smack talk” for that game against Murray and the Cardinals, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
“That’s my guy,” he said. “It’ll be fun to play against him after competing against him in practice and being around him everyday. It’ll make this matchup so much more enjoyable. I will be looking forward to watching him go through his first year. We get to play him in December so it’ll be cool seeing how he grows throughout the year. It’s a process. I had to learn that the hard way but I’ll be there to support him.”
It would appear Mayfield anticipates Murray will experience some bumps in the road in his development.
The Browns could be in contention for the postseason. Who knows what the Cardinals’ season will be at that point?
However, it is potentially one of the most exciting games on the Cardinals’ schedule. A little smack talk is in order.
