Baker Mayfield can add another accomplishment to his steadily growing young résumé. The quarterback has been named one of three captains for the 2019 Cleveland Browns.
Mayfield joins linebacker Christian Kirksey and long snapper Charley Hughlett as team captains, the Browns revealed on Friday.
It’s old hat for Kirksey, who is now the defensive captain for the third straight year. Being the offensive captain is new territory for Mayfield in his second season. Hughlett will also don the “C” for the first time for the special teams units.
The Browns players vote on the captains for the season. There will also be weekly captains designated throughout the year.
