Baker Mayfield has epic comeback for Rex Ryan and his criticism

Baker Mayfield is never one to stand down from a confrontation.

He’s also someone who pays attention to the criticism, so it’s no surprise that the Cleveland Browns quarterback heard ESPN’s Rex Ryan — a former NFL head coach, as you may recall, I mention it because it’s important in this situation — calling him “overrated as hell” while on Get Up! earlier in the week. He talked about all of Mayfield’s flaws from him being a “one-read” guy to staring down his teammates.

Mayfield’s response on Wednesday?

“In the wise words of (head coach) Freddie Kitchens,” he said, “‘If you don’t wear orange and brown, you don’t matter,’ and Rex Ryan doesn’t have any colors right now for a reason. So, it’s okay.”

Quite the comeback, but Mayfield may need to let his play — which hasn’t been great to kick off 2019 — to do the talking.
