Baker Mayfield gives the ‘Riders Up’ signal at the Kentucky Derby

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield continues to transcend football with his star wattage. Mayfield is a big enough celebrity to earn special status at the running of the Kentucky Derby.

Mayfield was on hand at Churchill Downs in Louisville to give the traditional “riders up” call to the jockeys prior to the annual horseracing extravaganza.

The moment was televised, of course.

There was controversy with the Derby itself. The horse who crossed the finish line first, Maximum Security, was later disqualified for impeding another horse during the race. Country Horse was later proclaimed the winner. No word on if Mayfield had any bets on the classic race.
