Baker Mayfield fined for criticizing the officials after the Browns’ loss to Seattle

Baker Mayfield knew it was coming. He even asked for it in his postgame press conference. The NFL obliged Mayfield’s plaintive request and fined the Browns quarterback for his comments criticizing the officiating in Cleveland’s Week 6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, Mayfield was fined $12,500 for his critical comments. After the game, a disgusted Mayfield stated, “I’ll probably be fined for saying this, but it was pretty bad today.”

Most notable amongst the questionable calls was an absolute travesty of an illegal block penalty thrown against Browns WR Jarvis Landry that wiped out a drive.

In addition to the fine on Mayfield, Seahawks DE Jadeveon Clowney was also fined for a roughing-the-passer foul he committed against Mayfield.
