Baker Mayfield continues to rack up awards following his debut season with the Cleveland Browns. The dynamic rookie QB captured the Professional Athlete of the Year honor at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards last week.
Mayfield is the first Browns player to win the honor since Josh Gordon in 2013. Corey Kluber of the Indians won in 2017.
The Browns’ victory over the New York Jets in Week 3 won the award for the best sports moment of 2018 in Greater Cleveland. That win, which ended Cleveland’s 19-game winless streak, was keyed by Mayfield’s first performance on the field and launched the Browns to a winning record for the rest of the season.
