Bake Off viewers 'fuming' as they spot '11 year-long' problem in first few seconds of new series

Viewers of the Great British Bake Off rejoiced as the hit series finally returned to screens.

That was, however, until they spotted the same problem they have noticed from the past '11 years'.

The popular Channel 4 show returned with 12 new bakers ready to take on every challenge thrown at them.

Starting with cake week, the contestants baked signature decorative mini rolls, a “teatime classic” technical and gravity-defying showstoppers.

Jurgen became the first to clinch the coveted star baker title while Tom became the first to leave the series after failing to impress the judges.

And it wouldn't be Bake Off without a mistake, and the first fell to Chigs, who only started baking 12 months prior during the lockdown, when he created an illusion cake of a jug pouring chocolate into a mixing bowl.

But the cup broke and fell to the floor when presented to the judges.

Fans, however, were just happy to have the comfort show back.

"I'm so happy that #GBBO is back. I didn't even mind that I forgot to make a cake to eat during it," tweeted one.

Another said: "Oooo I do love bake off. Loving this years bakers already. #GBBO."

"This is possibly one of the most chaotic groups of contestants there has ever been and I love it so much #GBBO," a third added.

But, there is a problem that viewers can't get away from.

"11 YEARS ON, RASPBERRY-GATE CONTINUES. fumin’ #GBBO," one viewer tweeted alongside images of the opening credits which shows a delicious chocolate cake with raspberries on the top.

However, there is one missing.

And other fans agreed how infuriating it was.

"Why do you not put a raspberry at the bottom right of the cake on the title screen? Please for the love of God, stop the chaos. #GBBO," one said.

Another wrote: "Oh god - honestly I thought I was alone in this. I get so angry every time I see it."

"The raspberry is too frustrating. Somebody fix it. #GreatBritishBakeOff #GBBO," a third agreed.

A fourth added: "And there it is The cake with the missing raspberry that annoys me every season #gbbo #bakeoff."

The Great British Bake Off continues at 8pm on Tuesdays on Channel 4.
