Bake Off star says bosses confiscate phones and force bakers to wear same clothes every day

Great British Bake Off star Karen Wright has lifted the lid on what really goes on behind-the-scenes on the hit Channel 4 show, revealing phones are banned and the contestants are forced to wear the same clothes.

The 2018  contestant, 60, has spoken out about the rules and regulations she had to abide by during her time in the tent.

The in-store sampling assistant from West Yorkshire told Express.co.uk that producers are very strict on making sure there are no cameras on the set.

This means a total ban on all mobile phones, which have to be handed in to producers.

Karen Wright has spoken out about the rules and regulations she had to abide by during her time on Great British Bake Off (PA)

She revealed: "The main thing is no mobile phones, so you can’t sneak a camera in.

"That was like a phone policy every morning, you had to hand it in and you got it back when you got on the bakers bus back to the hotel."

Karen also confessed that the bakers have to keep wearing the same clothes for continuity purposes.

She added: “And the old clothes rule - you have to wear the same clothes every day."

The baking enthusiast was voted out of the show after failing to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith during Spice Week.

Other contestants have previously revealed another strange rule is that GBBO producers insist that every time something is put into or taken out of an oven, the moment must be caught on camera.

So each time a baker wants to open the oven, they need to grab someone to get it captured on film.

A fresh batch of bakers entered the famous Great British Bake Off tent in August and the show is approaching episode seven.

Last week, bakers took on the dessert challenge as presenter Sandi Toksvig announced the remaining bakers would be making

One person who's bombe did not go down well with the judges was Priya O'Shea, who was sent home from the competition.

Those unfamiliar to the Great British Bake Off may have got a fright if they tuned in to see the bakers carefully assembling their creations.

Unsurprisingly, Steph Blackwell was star baker for the third week in a row - and Noel joked she was "doing it for the fringes".
