Bake Off's Candice Brown wants to be the next landlady of The Old Vic

Candice Brown has revealed she would like to whip Walford into shape by joining EastEnders.

The Great British Bake Off winner opened her own pub a few weeks ago and reckons she would be a natural as the Queen Vic’s new landlady.

She said: “I’d slot into EastEnders well.

“Not only is my Cockney accent perfect but Babs [Windsor] is one of my idols.

Even better, I’m a landlady in real-life, so I’m more than qualified to shout ‘Get outta my pub!’.”

Candice, 34, got some acting experience when she filmed a cameo in upcoming film Love Sarah, with Celia Imrie.

“There’s a strong baking element to the film,” she says.

“Though I’m not going to win an Oscar any time soon, I’d love to do more acting.”

For now, the 2016 Bake Off champ is enjoying the rather less glamorous realities of running the Green Man in Eversholt, Bucks, with her brother Ben and hubby Liam Macauley.

She says: “It wasn’t a case of opening the pub and then going, ‘See you later’.

I’m doing a bit of everything – I’ll be behind the bar, waitressing or helping out in the kitchen.”

She refuses to shy away from the muckier jobs too, adding: “I’m also cleaning toilets, sweeping up.

“I’m very hands-on. Last week, I was scraping bird poo off deckchairs. That was delightful.”

Candice is baking live at the Big Feastival in the Cotswolds, from August 23 to 25. For tickets, visit bigfeastival.com
