Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood will reportedly be making a massive £1.5million from a new series of bread adverts.
According to the Daily Star , the master baker is in “advanced” talks to be the face of Warburtons and could be signing a deal “within days”.
An industry insider told the publication: “An offer worth £1.1million was tabled. Paul’s team considered it and have asked for £1.5million as well as agency fees.
“Negotiations are ongoing, but things are looking positive. Execs at Warburtons are confident they’ll be able to strike a deal.”
The deal would see Paul front the brand’s next big television campaign, due to air in Spring 2020 as part of its 143rd anniversary celebrations.
It is claimed the ads will be “tongue in cheek”.
If accepted by all parties, the deal would add a significant bonus to Paul’s already healthy net worth of £10 million.
The campaign would also see him follow in the footsteps of big screen royalty, as Warburtons have already featured Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro in previous big-money campaigns.
Paul was the sole GBBO judge from the show’s original line-up to stay with the programme after it sensationally moved from BBC to Channel 4 in 2017.
The son of a baker, Paul originally trained as a sculptor before his dad persuaded him to join the family business.
He went onto become head baker at some of the most exclusive hotels, including Cliveden, The Chester Grosvenor and The Dorchester, gaining a reputation as an innovator and one of the country’s finest artisan bakers.
He returned to England soon after and launched the Paul Hollywood Artisan Bread Company, and now supplies Waitrose, and others, with his own branded bread.
