Fans of The Great Celebrity Bake Off were left "in bits" after Nadine Coyle appeared to reference her close friend Sarah Harding's cancer battle.
Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 and was later told it had spread around her body, with her needing chemotherapy and a mastectomy.
There was some positive news recently though, when Sarah confirmed MRI scans in December had revealed that the tumours in her brain and her lung had shrunk a bit after undergoing treatment.
Her Girls Aloud bandmates including Nadine have rallied around her ever since finding out about her illness, with them in constant contact, reports The Mirror.
On Tuesday night, Nadine took to the famous Bake Off tent to raise awareness and funds in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
In one moment, host Matt Lucas asked Nadine about her reasons for doing the show, and she mentioned a close friend who was suffering with the disease.
Nadine appeared emotional as she opened up to Matt about her hopes for doing the show, telling him about the friend who she did not name.
But with Sarah being so open with fans and supporters about her battle, and viewers hearing Nadine's words, those watching immediately believed it was Sarah she was referring to.
On the importance of raising money to fight cancer, she told Matt: "I have a very close friend at the minute who is suffering from cancer.
"It's terrifying, you look at the statistics and the more research there is and the more money and funding there is to do that the better people's odds are.
"You never know when the next big breakthrough is going to happen. And hopefully very soon."
Taking to Twitter, fans heaped praise and support on Nadine with one saying: "Nadine talking about Sarah, so heartbreaking."
Another said: "Nadine Coyle doing Bake Off for Sarah Harding is making me tear up."
A third added: "Nadine Coyle talking about Sarah Harding, she looked so upset."
Meanwhile a fourth wrote: "I’m just so proud of Nadine for doing this, I can't imagine how hard it was to talk about Sarah and have her in the forefront of her mind the whole time. I'm so happy she’s been able to do this and support her."
