Bake Off 2021: Fans praise Giuseppe after he admits ‘imposter syndrome’ ahead of final

Fans of The Great British Bake Off have praised Bristol contestant Giuseppe after he admitted to suffering from imposter syndrome ahead of the show’s final.

The 45-year-old engineer, who is the first Bristolian to make it to the Bake Off final, shared a meme on Twitter which read “Trying really hard” alongside “My imposter syndrome waiting to self sabotage me.”

He captioned the tweet: "Me, throughout the entire season of #GBBO."

The tweet has amassed more than 1,600 likes and dozens of retweets, with fans of the show rushing to support the “talented baker”.

One viewer wrote: “I suffer from the same thing, so I am so unbelievably proud of you for doing the amazing work you’ve been doing on bake off.”

Giuseppe replied: “We are the worst enemies of ourselves at times.”

Another person commented: “Honestly I couldn’t tell - you’ve been awesome! Whatever the result is in the finale, please don’t stop baking- you’re too good and we love you!”

Others are rooting for Giuseppe, who has won over the hearts of the nation, to go all the way in the competition.

“You are a fan favourite!! My husband and I cheer for you every week! #Team Giuseppe,” one wrote.

“Our favourite baker. Wishing you loads of luck for the final.”

Giuseppe will join Chigs and Crystelle in the final of the competition tomorrow night (Tuesday, November 23.)

He is the first baker from Bristol to ever make it this far in the competition, after Briony Williams from Horfield was sent home before the final in 2018 after admitting to using salt instead of sugar in her bake.

Giuseppe has gained thousands of followers and dedicated supporters since week one, who are desperate for him to win, and even have a spin-off show with semi-finalist Jürgen Krauss.
