Bakary Sako's message to the Crystal Palace fans after the Eagles confirm he is leaving the club

Bakary Sako has thanked the Crystal Palace fans for their support over the past four years after it was confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer.

The Eagles announced today (Thursday) that the Malian international will be leaving the club when his current contract expires at the end of the month.

It will be the second time Sako has left the Eagles, after moving to West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer last year, having turned down the offer of a new contract from Palace.

But he returned to south London on a short-term contract in January, only to find his opportunities limited, making just four appearances in the second half of the season.

As such, it has now been confirmed that Sako will be leaving the club this summer, after scoring eight goals in 54 appearances across two spells at Palace.

And Sako has sent a message to the Palace fans - and to West Brom too - as he embarks on a new chapter.

"All good things come to an end... After four seasons at CPFC, the time has come for me to look for a new challenge in my life," he said in a message on social media, which has also been published on Palace's club website .

"I want to thank again, publicly, the club and the people there for all what they did for me during this incredible journey. My teammates, my coaches, the staff... I hope that I've been as good with them that they have been with me.

"Our history hasn't been easy as I've unfortunately suffered many setbacks, but for each and every time I've worn our blue and red jersey I did it with pride and happiness. I want to deeply thank you all guys, at the stadium, in the city or all over the world for supporting me and sending me always Strength & Love. I will always keep you close to my heart.

"I also want to thank West Bromwich Albion for the chance they gave me at a difficult stage of my career. I will remember."
