Bairn Banter and Carsphairn Heritage Centre provide egg-cellent Easter weekend

Glenkens children’s group Bairn Banter and The Carsphairn Heritage Centre enjoyed an egg-cellent fun filled weekend of free Easter themed activities.

The fun began with several eager children gathering in Carsphairn Primary School playground to begin an Easter egg hunt. The fun continued with a speedy children’s egg and spoon race and very competitive adult’s race.

After building up quite the appetite, the group then congregated in the Lagwyne Hall for a tasty snack of hot cross buns, fruit, teas, coffees and other refreshments provided by the volunteers of Bairn Banter. Alongside the eggs provided by Bairn Banter, South Kyle windfarm also donated chocolate eggs for the children to enjoy.

After a wholesome refuel, the families visited the wonderful and educational exhibition that was displayed at the Carsphairn Heritage Centre. The children enjoyed egg decorating and learning about traditional methods of dying and decorating the eggs using different flowers, beetroot and even onion skins, before the times of modern paints and felt-tip pens.
