Baillie Gifford gives staff equal parental leave rights

Investment management company Baillie Gifford has introduced equal parental leave for all employees.

The Edinburgh-based business has introduced the policy for all regardless of gender and length of service.

The new policy means its 1000 employees can enjoy up to 52 weeks of leave if they become a parent.

There is no quick fix to to reducing the gender pay gap... it will take time and patience

Partner Lynne Dewar, who chairs the firm’s diversity and inclusion group, said the policy offers choice and flexibility to all parents after a child’s birth or adoption.

The first 26 weeks of leave would be at full pay and then the salary would be reduced to half.

Last month drinks giant Diageo annouonced it was to offer parental leave to all employees regardless of gender, sexual orientation or whether they had used a surrogate.
