- The action was taken because Ryanair ignored a court order to pay a passenger €890 (£742) in legal costs and compensation.
- The compensation was due for a 13-hour delayed flight from Linz to Mallorca in 2024, which led the passenger to seek legal action.
- The seizure notice, known as a “cuckoo sticker”, grants the court legal control over the Boeing 737, which could be appraised and sold if Ryanair fails to make the payment.
- Ryanair said the aircraft had not been “physically seized”, departed shortly after, and continued to operate, expecting the enforcement proceedings to be terminated.
