Bailey Peacock-Farrell admits he is still waiting on contract talks as he discusses his Leeds United future

Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has admitted his future may lie away from Elland Road if he is not given assurance over his playing time next season.

The academy graduate started the 2018/19 campaign as the Whites’ number one, following the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa .

Peacock-Farrell continued between the sticks for the first half of the season, until January, before losing his place to Kiko Casilla, who arrived from Real Madrid during the winter window.

However, the Spaniard’s performances have come under scrutiny, which has also placed uncertainty over his long-term future at the club.

Despite making huge strides in his development over the last 12 months, Peacock-Farrell has made it clear he isn’t prepared to let that go to waste.

Speaking to the Press Association, whilst on international duty with Northern Ireland, Peacock-Farrell said: “If I stay at Leeds I’ll be staying at Leeds to play.

“The two scenarios would probably be I’m staying at Leeds and I’m playing or I’ll have to be elsewhere I think.”

Despite dropping out of the Leeds starting XI, the 22-year-old has retained his place between the sticks for his country.

Michael O’Neill’s men take on Estonia and Belarus in the next week, which will offer Peacock-Farrell his first taste of football since late March.

The youngster is entering the final year of his deal at Elland Road, and whilst reports suggest the club are set to open talks with BPF, the shot-stopper is keeping his options open.

“They said they wanted to open discussions on a contract but that was two weeks ago and I still haven’t heard anything,” he said.

“But then they also said that last season. We’re a season gone and it still hasn’t happened. I don’t know what to make of it.

“The aim is to be playing football, I have to. I’m not one of those goalkeepers who could be content with sitting on the bench and picking up a wage.”

With speculation surrounding Casilla’s future in West Yorkshire mounting, United could be left with a decision to make, with Peacock-Farrell not prepared to bide his time for another crack at the whip.
