Bail granted for man accused of killing 7yo in tree-felling incident

A felled tree crushes a car at Mt Lloyd, injuring a boy and his sister. The boy later died.

A 36-year-old man accused of killing a seven-year-old Tasmanian boy has been granted bail in Hobart this morning.

Joshua George Hector Clark was arrested in Victoria on Tuesday and extradited to Tasmania to face the charge of manslaughter in the Magistrates Court in Hobart today.

He was bailed and will be back before the court again next month.

The seven-year-old boy died on Mount Lloyd, above New Norfolk, on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

Police allege Mr Clark cut down a tree in circumstances that were dangerous and caused the death of the seven-year-old boy who was seated in a car.

Police said their investigation has been conducted in close liaison with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Detectives said the boy's family had been advised and would be provided with necessary support.
