Bahrain to Hold Municipal, Parliamentary Elections Simultaneously

Bahrain’s Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued an order to set the timetable for municipal elections and nominations on November 24.

The order included adding a general committee to the 13 polling and sorting general committees in regards to the municipal councils elections system.

The municipal elections coincide with parliamentary elections scheduled for the same day.

The registered voters in the electioneering tables are invited to be present at the polling committees headquarters to elect municipal councils members from 8 am until 8 pm on Saturday, November 24.

If a second-round vote is required, it will be held on December 1, according to a decree issued by the Premier.

Nominations for municipal councils membership will be open for registration starting from Wednesday, October 17 until Sunday, October 21.

Nomination applications can be submitted in the various municipal constituencies to the competent committees.

Voters’ lists will, for the first time, be displayed online by the country’s four supervision committees from Thursday on September 27 until October 3, Executive Director of Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission and Elections 2018 Chancellor Nawaf Abdulla Hamza said.

Each supervision committee will have one large e-screen and four small ones featuring the lists.
