Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has allowed Isa Qassim to travel abroad for medical care.
Bahrain Foreign Minister Khalid Al Khalifa on Friday wrote on Twitter that King Hamad will cover all costs for Qassim's treatment.
Qassim resides at his home in the town of Diraz, west of Manama.
In January, Bahrain's supreme court upheld a one-year jail term for Qassim and confirmed a decision to revoke his citizenship over illegal fundraising and money laundering.
The supreme court also upheld the same verdict for two of his aides.
The authorities stripped Qassim’s citizenship in June 2016.
