Jindara Prakaiwichien told Pol Capt Sitthipong Panthaisong, a duty officer at Suvarnabhumi airport police station, on Saturday night that her four bags worth more than 30,000 baht were missing from a suitcase when she arrived at her house from the airport.

Ms Jindara said she was unaware of the theft until she reached home and found out the zip locking the luggage was damaged and the bags inside were not there, according to the officer.

The woman and her sister returned to Bangkok from New York by China Southern Airlines with a change in Guangzhou.

She decided to come to the police station after she could not contact the carrier, according to the police.

Pol Capt Sitthipong said police would examine the footage from CCTVs at the airport to look for clues about the theft.
