Matty Cash's impressive form for Nottingham Forest this season has seen him receive transfer interest from a host of clubs.
The midfielder, who has excelled at right-back this season, has seen Everton, West Ham United and AC Milan all linked with a swoop for his services.
And former Aston Villa man Lee Hendrie "could easily see" the 22-year-old make the move to Italy to become a regular at the San Siro.
Stefano Poli's side were said to be leading the race to sign Cash during January but instead opted to favour the services of ex-Everton ace Antonee Robinson.
But Robinson's 'dream move' to Milan collapsed on the final moments of deadline day, leaving the club's hunt for a right-back still very much alive.
“I do like Matty, he’s got bags of potential," Hendrie told Football League World .
"Playing in that position, he’s always up and down and he’s got bags of energy – he’s had a fabulous season.
“I could easily see him playing in Italy for AC Milan, the style of Italian football would suit him as they utilise their wing-backs quite a lot. It wouldn’t surprise me if it did happen.
“When you’ve had as good a season as Matty’s had, why shouldn’t he be getting the plaudits and attract these big clubs?
“He’s still a young man, he still has a lot to learn and he has bags of potential but he’s shown what he’s all about this season. If a move did happen, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.”
