Bags of dog poo piled next to bin on picturesque Leeds walking trail

Bags of dog poo have been piled high next to an out-of-use bin on a picturesque walking trail.

The Meanwood Valley Trail, which runs from Woodhouse to Golden Acre Park via Headingley and Adel, is a well trodden path for Leeds' dog walkers.

But council bins in Leeds, like the one where the trail meets Monk Bridge Road in Meanwood, are all sealed and out-of-use during the coronavirus lockdown.

It seems some dog owners have continued bagging up their pet's waste with the intention of binning it - but on realising the bin is sealed, placing it on the footpath instead.

Dozens of poo-filled bags have been piled on the narrow footpath, which runs through the back gardens to a row of terrace houses.

Leeds City Council say, "pavements that are heavily soiled can be cleared". This could take up to five working days though.

The council form to report litter or dog fouling can be found here.
