Bags full of suspected cocaine found in car parked outside house

Fifteen kilos of suspected cocaine was uncovered in a parked car in Crosby.

Officers from a Merseyside Police operation targeting gangs in Sefton made the discovery after carrying out a raid of a vehicle parked in Kilnyard Road on Friday, August 6.

The seizure led to a 31-year-old man from Formby being arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs on Monday, August 10.

He was taken in for questioning and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Chris Taylor told the ECHO : “Another positive result for Operation Pelican means more good news for those in Sefton, as we continue to target those we suspect are spreading the misery of drugs in the community.

“Since 2019, the team has made a massive contribution into reducing organised crime activity and shootings in the area and we now focus on targeting suspected drug suppliers, and supporting victims of criminal exploitation.

"We’ve made more than 450 arrests, seized more than £200,000 in cash and seized drugs with an estimated street value of more than £5 million. This recent seizure and arrest will now be subject of a detailed investigation.

"Key to this success is often the information from those people and communities most affected, so if you have any information please come forward.”

Anyone with any information about suspected drug dealing in your area, is asked to contact MerPolCC on Twitter, call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
