Bagpipers invited to play Scotland the Brave at windows and balconies in tribute to NHS staff

Bagpipers across Scotland are being encouraged to pay tribute to NHS staff who have been working tirelessly to keep us safe, fed and cared for during coronavirus.

The National Piping Centre wants to pay thanks to everyone from delivery drivers to doctors on the frontline by playing a nationwide rendition of Scotland the Brave.

Pipers are being asked to go their gardens, windows, front doors and balconies - or wherever is socially distant - on Thursday April 2 at 8pm to play the tune.

This rousing tune will demonstrate the gratitude to key workers across the nation, supporting those who are helping to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

So grab your pipes and join in by playing Scotland the Brave for #PipeUpforKeyWorkers.

It comes after thousands of people across the UK showed their support for the NHS with a round of applause during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Daily Record is proud to be part of the NHS Heroes campaign to say thanks to all the brave workers who dedicate themselves to our care, regardless of their own health, in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Across the Reach network, we’ll be shining a light on the incredible work done by NHS staff, and the lovely gestures of kindness from the public that are helping to ease the stress.
