Baggage chaos at Glasgow airport leaves passengers facing '90-minute wait' for luggage

Passengers have reportedly faced lengthy delays in dropping off and collecting their baggage at Glasgow Airport. One traveller told the Daily Record they were forced to wait more than 90 minutes for their suitcases after arriving on an easyJet flight.

They claim that baggage handlers contracted by the budget airline were allegedly refusing to offload the aircraft. A picture taken inside the arrivals hall early on Tuesday morning showed dozens of fed up travellers and holidaymakers waiting near the empty baggage carousel.

Another passenger tweeted: “Shambles Glasgow Airport. 80 minutes simply to drop bag and then flight to London delayed by 90 mins due to lack of ground staff baggage handlers.”

Glasgow Airport chiefs confirmed that passengers were "waiting longer than they should have" due to the baggage issues. But they said they were contacting the airline and their luggage handling company to understand what was causing the lengthy delays.

A spokeswoman for EasyJet said that they hadn't been made aware of any issues at the airport, adding: "We are sorry that it took longer than usual for passengers arriving in Glasgow from Malaga and Faro on the evening of 27th June to be reunited with their hold luggage and for any inconvenience caused."
