(Picture: PA Archive)The 76th British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the Baftas, will be held on February 19, 2023.
The annual award show honours the best British and international contributions to film.
The Baftas are the British equivalent of the Oscars, with the sports betting community platform, Online Betting Guide (OLBG), revealing the bookmakers’ leading contenders to win the best actor and film awards.
Best Actor at the Baftas predictions
Colin Farrell is odds-on with the bookmakers to win the leading actor award for The Banshees of Inisherin, OLBG says, ahead of Brendan Fraser in The Whale.
OLBG says bookmakers believe there’s a 69 per cent implied probability of Farrell winning the award.
Other nominees in the leading actor category include Austin Butler for Elvis, Daryl McCormack for Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, Paul Mescal for Aftersun and Bill Nighy for Living.
Butler has slipped down to third favourite with odds of 9/2, despite winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama earlier this month.
Best Film at the Baftas predictions
OLBG says The Banshees of Inisherin is the heavy favourite to win the best film accolade with odds of 4/9. It has been nominated for nine other Baftas.
Martin McDonagh’s film, which is set on an island off the west coast of Ireland, charts the conflict between lifelong friends Padraic (Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson).
Bookmakers William Hill have given the film a 69 per cent chance of winning best film at the Baftas. Everything Everywhere All At Once is second favourite with odds of 2/1.
The Banshees of Inisherin won three major prizes at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles last month. The film claimed the best comedy or musical film and best screenplay accolades, as well as best comedy actor for Farrell.
The film had received a leading eight nominations at the Golden Globes, the most achieved since Cold Mountain in 2004.
