BAFTA TV Awards 2021: Who is singer Alexis Ffrench?

The BAFTA TV Awards are back for 2021 and the ceremony will see a host of stars and famous faces gather for the best in television and film from the past year.

Singer Olly Alexander will open the show with his track Starstruck. Also performing will be classical musician and pianist Alexis Ffrench with his song Bluebird.

The video for Bluebird sees Alexis behind a piano while a woman performs ballet. It’s a calm, beautiful track which appeals to those looking for something more slower as life gathers pace again following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.

Now, let’s look a bit deeper into Alexis and find out who he is, what he's done and why he’s famous:

Who is Alexis Ffrench and where has he performed?

Alexis Ffrench is one of the world’s fastest-growing classical composers. His tracks have amassed an impressive 200 million streams globally, while two of his albums - Dreamland and Evolution - have done well in the classical music charts.

That’s not all. Alexis has performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London and at Latitude Festival. He will perform his track Bluebird at the BAFTA TV Awards tonight.

Alexis is currently signed to Sony Music, the same label as former One Direction singer Niall Horan and X Factor winners, Little Mix.

He is passionate about music education and has produced a series of YouTube videos to help aspiring musicians find their passion.

Alexis is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, winning a scholarship to study there when he was just 10 years old.

Even before that, he was pretty successful, and was appointed head organist at his community church in Surrey, thought to be one of the UK’s youngest head organists.

If you want to see what Alexis can do for yourself, you can catch his track Bluebird during tonight’s BAFTA TV Awards, which is on television screens from 7pm on BBC One.
