BAFTA TV Awards 2019: This Country's Daisy May Cooper wears dress made of RUBBISH

This Country star Daisy May Cooper joined several celebs wearing black dresses to the BAFTA TV awards - but hers had a huge twist.

The West Country comedian shunned the big designers to hit the red carpet in a dress made of rubbish that had been put together by her mother and two friends.

It wasn't just a simple bin liner though, as it had a train of rubbish that flowed along the floor behind her with the ensemble topped with a hat that had a pigeon perched on top.

While she looked fantastic in her off-beat dress, Daisy May had an important point to make.

The 33-year-old donated the cost of a designer outfit to a number of charities, including a food bank.

Speaking to ITV, Daisy revealed her inspirations behind the dress:

"I wanted people to say, 'Oh what are you wearing? Gucci?' No just bin bags."

She then went on to reveal the design process and why she chose to wear bin bags to BAFTA.

Daisy said: "My mum did with her two friends Viv and Sharon, but I decided instead of wearing a normal dress I'd donate what I would have spent to charity and wear bin bags. There is a reason behind it."

It wasn't just thrown together either as the dress has some intricate fine details, with the train having an Old EL Paso sauce mix packet and a Screwfix leaflet among the 'rubbish'.

Daisy had a dustbin lid as a fascinator, with a pigeon in pride of place on the top and she had a small dustbin as her handbag.

Her This Country co-creator, brother Charlie Cooper, was full of praise for Daisy's fashion statement and was complimentary of his mother's work.

Charlie tweeted: "My sister in a bin bag. At the baftas. Designed by our mum. The fookin nut bag".

It was certainly a standout on the red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall on London's Southbank.
