BAFTA TV Awards 2019: Joe Sugg red-faced over awkward joke about girlfriend Dianne

Joe Sugg was left a little on the spot thanks to Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, as she commented on his romance with Dianne Buswell during the BAFTA TV Awards 2019.

The 2018 contestant met Dianne on the show after they were partnered up, and confirmed they were an item in December.

Joe and Dianne’s relationship has blossomed over the past few months since their time on the show, while rumours they were dating were one of the biggest talking points during the last series.

It appeared this was the case yet again on Sunday night, as Joe reunited with judge Shirley to present an award.

Joe asked Shirley if she wanted to give a little dance while on stage, and she decided to put him on the spot.

He said: “Before we start, Shirley, do you fancy a quick twirl?”

Shirley quickly obliged, leaving the audience impressed with her moves.

It’s then that she dropped a little joke aimed at the couple finding love on the show, leaving him a little red-faced.

She said: “I know what happened the last time you had a dance partner…”

Things went silent pretty quickly, before Joe awkwardly responded: “I don’t know what you mean.”

Viewers loved the moment, with one commenting: “My two favorite people are presenting together this is all I want.”

Another said: “Loved seeing @ShirleyBallas and @Joe_Sugg present an award tonight.”

Others picked up on the fact the joke fell flat, with one fan saying: “Lol @ the joke Shirley and Joe tried to make but no one laughed.”
