BAFTA TV Awards 2019: Ant McPartlin avoids awkward clash with ex Lisa Armstrong

Ant McPartlin avoided an awkward run-in with his ex-wife Lisa Armstrong at the BAFTA TV Awards .

The exes were reportedly set for a reunion at this year's glitzy bash.

But it was all okay in the end, as Lisa apparently chose not to attend.

Ant arrived at the bash with best pal and presenting partner Dec Donnelly.

It was their first red carpet together since Ant's return to the limelight following his drink-drive charge and subsequent break from television.

The boys went as each other's plus ones, rather than take along their significant others.

Dec's wife Ali Astall and Ant's girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett weren't there, but may have been watching on TV as their fellas picked up two awards.

In a sweet moment, Ant stood to one side and pushed Holly Willoughby to the front of the stage to collect the award with Dec.

She hosted the show with Dec last year as Ant took a 10-month break from his hosting responsibilities.

When asked if it felt good to be reunited on the red carpet, Dec said: "It always does, we love BAFTA, it's such a fun day, but yes, it's nice to be back on the red carpet isn't it?"

Ant added: "Yes, it's nice to be back on the red carpet."

Ant also confessed that getting ready for a bash like the BAFTAs was much easier for men than it is for women.

He said: "It's easy for men, isn't it, that's the thing. It takes a very funny looking man to not look good in a tuxedo."

Ant and Dec were also asked to share the secret to their success.

Dec said: "We've been around for a long time, we've been here for ages so people are just used to us.

"We're familiar," Ant added. "Like a comfy settee. You know what you're getting."
