Bafta Scotland winners announced at ceremony in Glasgow

THE winners of the 2022 Bafta Scotland award were announced at a ceremony on Sunday evening.

Outlander star Sam Heughan and Peter Capaldi were among the winners on the night.

The former received the Scotland Audience Award whilst Capaldi was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Film & Television prize.

Capaldi, who has starred in the likes of Doctor Who and political satire The Thick Of It, gave a nod to his fellow actors in his acceptance speech.

He said: “I just want to say, actors are brilliant. And it’s great when you get an award and it’s all like this and everything’s going really well.

“But for a lot of actors, it’s not going well. And from day-to-day, from week-to-week, it can be really tough, and you can’t get through the door and you can’t get out the door sometimes, so I just want them to know that sometimes the stars align and you get lucky, and that’s what happened to me.”

Elsewhere, Dougray Scott won the award for Actor Television for his leading role in Irvine Welsh’s Crime.

TV show Guilt was the biggest winner on the night, receiving awards for Television Scripted and Writer Film/Television for its creator Neil Forsyth.

It marked the second time the show has won in both categories at the awards.

Slow Horses star Jack Lowden won for his role in Benediction whilst Actress Film was taken home by Izuka Hoyle, who starred in hit film Boiling Point.

Other winners included Darren McGarvey’s Addictions for Best Factual Series while the award for features was won by Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland.

The game award was won by Glasgow-based studio Blazing Griffin for Hercule Poirot: The First Cases.
