BAFTA 2019: Paul Chuckle devastated as brother Barry is 'snubbed' from memorial

Paul Chuckle was left devastated to discover his brother Barry had been left off the In Memorian section of last night's BAFTAs TV 2019.

The Chuckle Brother star - who won a BAFTA with Barry a decade ago - took to social media during Sunday night's ceremony to vent his frustation.

Barry Elliott died at the age of 73 on August 5 last year following a secret health battle.

As fans took to Twitter to ask why Barry hadn't been given the honour of being mentioned with other late stars, his brother Paul responded: "I quite agree my friend. We received our BAFTA’s ten years ago. He should have been mentioned."

Social media site was flooded with complaints from viewers also noticing the absence of the much loved entertainer.

"Why no mention of the late Barry Chuckle!?" cried one.

"Sorry BAFTA though I am loving the show, surely you omitted Barry Chuckle (Elliott) from those we lost in the last year. A much loved TV stalwart of 20 years plus."

Another fired: "@BAFTA was there a reason as to why Barry Chuckle wasn't mentioned!!!! Shame on you, years of entertainment and you can't even acknowledge him. @PaulChuckle2.'

Other fans noticed that Love Island's Mike Thalassitis had also been snubbed from the tribute.

Mike found fame on the ITV2 dating show in 2017 and later appeared on Celebs Go Dating.

26-year-old Mike tragically took his own life at a park in north London in March.

Addressing the criticism, a spokesperson for BAFTA said they were not able to acknowledge all the TV stars who had passed due to 'limited time.'

They explained: "Barry [Chuckle] was featured at our Children’s Awards ceremony in November 2018.

"Owing to the number of people we can recognise at any one time, names are featured within a ceremony only once. Barry’s name is also featured in tonight’s brochure.

"BAFTA’s online obituaries maintain a year-round public testament to those from our industries who are no longer with us."

Jodie Comer is honoured for work on Killing Eve (Guy Levy/BAFTA/REX)

This year's annual BAFTAs TV was held at London's Royal Festival Hall and hosted by Graham Norton.

It was a great night for Jodie Comer and Killing Eve - with the drama series taking home the most awards of the night.

The show saw off some serious competition to win best drama series, leading actress and best supporting actress for Fiona Shaw.

Holding back her tears as she accepted her award, Comer said: "I’ve watched the Baftas for many many years on my own in my bedroom. It’s just the dream and I’m very emotional, I did blub the whole way through it."

Elsewhere Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby were honoured for their work on I'm A Celebrity last year.
