Newcastle United fans have hit out at Steve Bruce's team selection to face Arsenal in the FA Cup this evening.
The Magpies have made seven changes to the game, with key forward Callum Wilson left out and Andy Carroll given the nod up front ahead of Dwight Gayle.
With a big game against Sheffield United on Tuesday, Bruce clearly appears to have one eye on securing Premier League safety after a run of five games without a win.
Yet fans are disappointed to see it potentially come at the cost of an FA Cup run, with Arsenal heavy favourites for the game after the starting XIs were announced.
Bruce had previously promised changes for the match but said his team will still respect the FA Cup.
Despite this, he has warned that a game against an Arsenal side that have hit form after a startlingly slow start to the season will always pose a tough threat.
He said earlier in the week: "I will do my utmost to put a team together which will respect the competition.
"It could not be much more difficult in Arsenal, let's be right, but we'll go down and try to get through."
He added: "They still have really good players.
"The Premier League is the same, and to have the start they had before showing you can get hit.
"Chelsea are now in a blip and Man City had one, Liverpool are having one, it's so difficult for everybody.
"And we are having a tough time at the moment.
"But we knew December and January was going to be tough."
