Baffled EastEnders viewers were convinced they had missed an episode amid confusion over the timeline.
The horror movie tone of the explosive New Year's Day special carried through to the start of tonight's episode as Martin Fowler stood in the darkness.
Suddenly a light was switched on and Sonia told her ex: "Happy New Year handsome."
The pair then kissed, making sure Bex would not rumble their secret reunion, before Sonia admitted it was her first New Year's Day without a hangover.
This left many EastEnders viewers confused over the date and chronological order of the events.
One confused viewer asked: "Why are they acting like it’s New Years Day?"
"I feel like I’ve missed something! The last episode was the flashback, right?!," added another.
A third said: "The flashback episode should’ve been aired on Boxing Day tbh"
"This is a flashback to the day before the day before the last flashback," said a fourth.
Obviously the reason why it was New Year's Day in the show is that the episode that aired on the actual day was a flashback to Christmas Day.
The action picked up on the morning after Linda Carter's boozy adventures across Albert Square.
Mick woke hungover Linda up by smashing some glasses on the bar - then revealed what she said to him in anger.
Slamming her behaviour, Mick said: "You’re hurting other people. Do you remember what you said to me on the phone last night? Of course you don't. Shall I remind you?
"You told me I was boring and I should go and shut my mouth and pop my pills. You also said Ii was a sorry excuse of a man because I didn’t sort out Dean after what he did to you. That's strong words, L."
Horrified Linda apologised for her nasty comments and claimed she didn't even recognise herself.
Linda also kicked out pregnant Sharon on New Year's Eve after a blazing row.
Ian was horrified to see dishevelled Sharon burst in tears on his doorstep after a night on the streets of London.
Sharon explained that she argued with Linda then spent the night walking around and riding the night tube.
