Coronation Street fans compare David to Jay from Inbetweeners after jumping on car

Coronation Street's David Platt (played by Jack P Shepherd) is known to have the odd moment of eccentricity and his latest brought laughable comparisons from viewers.

The Corrie stalwart is living under a cloud at the moment and when taking a stroll on the cobbles, decided to have an impromptu jump up and down on a car bonnet.

Davis Platt is having a hard time after his wife Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) demands a divorce from the neurological rehabilitation centre in Leeds, where she is recovering.

David has also got his sights on a gang of local drug dealers, so when he sees them in a car together, he thought he would get stomping on the bonnet with his size nines.

The drama of the moment was lost on some viewers who could only see Jay from Inbetweeners have a hood stomp in a classic moment from the E4 comedy.

It was no surprise that they took to Twitter in their droves to make this point as they saw the funny side in David's descent into chaos.

Baffled Corrie fans compare David to Jay from the Inbetweeners (ITV)

One viewer shared a gif of Jay's infamous moment and wrote: "David jumping on that car!! "

Another shared the same gif and claimed: "David trying to get a pasting #Corrie"

A confused viewer tweeted: "Wtf is David doing #Corrie"

A fourth viewer found the moment a little cringeworthy: "David's impromptu tap dance on a car bonnet"

Another fan wanted only one answer, tweeting: "Why's David doing the Riverdance on that Escort?"

Of course, the drug dealers of Hylda Baker estate were not going to sit in the car and take it and they give chase after the hairdresser.

The enraged gang outnumber David but they seem to be the odds that he likes as he looks to quench his thirst for danger.
